Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our accounting team and support the day-to-day general accounting functions of a growing organization. This position will work closely with the accounting and finance team and will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, supporting the month-end close process, and assisting with banking and other general accounting activities.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who understands the full accounting cycle, has strong attention to detail, and can work independently to research and resolve accounting discrepancies and maintain accurate accounting records.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and post general ledger journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, reclassifications, and other routine entries.
- Perform monthly bank account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Monitor and reconcile cash and other balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accounting activities are completed accurately and timely.
- Review general ledger activity for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate account classification.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions.
- Maintain supporting documentation for journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assist with accounting related to fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other general ledger accounts.
- Provide support related to company bank accounts, including reconciliation of transactions and coordination with banking partners as needed.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Work collaboratively with the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions to ensure transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger.
- Provide schedules, reconciliations, and other supporting information to the financial reporting team.
- Assist with external audits, tax requests, and other requests from the company’s outside accounting professionals.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; 5+ years preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, debits and credits, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Demonstrated experience with bank reconciliations and month-end close procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to independently research transactions and resolve discrepancies.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systems.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with financial information.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a company with $20M+ in annual revenue.
- Experience supporting a multi-account or multi-bank environment.
- Experience with month-end and year-end close.
- Experience working with external CPA firms or auditors.
- Experience with accounting system implementations, process improvements, or automation.
- Experience in a small-to-medium-sized corporate accounting department.

The successful candidate will become a reliable resource for the accounting team, ensuring that general ledger activity is accurate and complete, reconciliations are performed timely, discrepancies are identified and resolved, and the accounting team has the information and support needed to complete the monthly financial close and reporting process.
