Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Commercial Door Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of commercial doors and related hardware. Your expertise will ensure that commercial facilities operate smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and troubleshoot commercial doors including steel, glass, metal, and wood varieties
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to complete projects accurately
- Read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand project specifications
- Perform door hanging, frame carpentry, metal stud framing, and trim carpentry tasks as needed
- Conduct glass installation and fixture installation with precision and care
- Apply caulking and sealants to ensure proper weatherproofing and insulation
- Assist with locksmithing tasks such as lock installation or repair on commercial doors
- Install and program access control systems, electric locks, keypads, card readers, and automatic door operators
- Troubleshoot and repair security systems, low-voltage wiring, and door hardware
- Document service calls, installations, and repairs accurately
- Lift heavy materials safely while adhering to all safety protocols on construction sites
- Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality standards
- Maintain a clean work environment and organize tools and materials efficiently
Qualifications
- Proven experience in glass installation, door hanging, or related construction trades
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and blueprints accurately
- Skilled in welding, fabrication, carpentry, electrical work or remodeling is a plus
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, caulking guns, and other construction equipment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work at heights or in confined spaces when required
- Construction site experience with a focus on safety procedures and protocols
- Experience with access control, automatic doors, or low-voltage systems preferred
- Knowledge of electrical and low-voltage wiring practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; reliable transportation required
