Position Overview
The Sales Manager develops business for assigned market segments or territories through proactive direct sales. This role builds qualified accounts, converts inquiries into contracted guest-room, meeting, event, and hotel-service business, and helps the Cedar Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center achieve its room-night and revenue goals while delivering responsive, brand-aligned service.
As a member of the opening team, the Sales Manager will establish client relationships and build a strong base of business in preparation for the hotel's April 2027 opening.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Revenue Generation
- Establish and expand a client base of individuals, organizations, associations, social groups, and corporate businesses through proactive inside and outside sales to secure business for the hotel.
- Actively prospect, qualify, and convert new business for guest rooms, meeting and function space, and hotel services to meet or exceed assigned room-night and revenue goals.
- Achieve personal and team sales goals as assigned.
- Represent the hotel at trade shows and conventions and participate in sales trips to key feeder markets, as needed.
- Assist with the development and implementation of sales plans and participate in the annual budgeting and planning process, as assigned.
Client Proposals, Contracting & Events
- Monitor and respond to inquiry calls and prepare client proposals in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
- Negotiate guest-room rates, meeting-room rental, function space, and hotel services within approved booking guidelines.
- Accurately prepare and review proposals and sales contracts.
- Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for prospective clients.
- Entertain clients in accordance with company and hotel policies and guidelines.
Account Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate client files and update account information daily in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
- Prepare monthly sales reports and forecasts for the assigned area of responsibility.
- Follow up with clients regularly during and after their stay or event to confirm satisfaction and secure future bookings.
- Develop repeat business and generate new opportunities through relationships with airlines, wholesalers, corporate accounts, travel agencies, advertising agencies, and other relevant contacts.
Hotel Collaboration & Guest Service
- Work closely with hotel departments to deliver the services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective or confirmed clients.
- Communicate sales-related information to other departments accurately and promptly to support a coordinated guest and client experience.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with all hotel departments.
- Interact professionally with guests and outside contacts to ensure satisfaction, encourage repeat business, follow up on events, and generate new business.
- Serve as manager on duty when required and perform other duties as assigned.
Accountability
- Accountable for achieving established personal sales goals and contributing to assigned team, room-night, and revenue goals.
- Maintains accurate, timely client records, proposals, agreements, sales reports, and forecasts for the assigned area of responsibility.
- Protects client relationships and represents the hotel, Marriott brand, and Prime Hospitality Group with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Exercises sales authority within approved booking guidelines, policies, and procedures and escalates exceptions appropriately.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Some college coursework plus one to two years of sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A related degree is preferred.
- Prior hotel sales experience is preferred.
- Fluency in spoken English is required; proficiency in additional languages is preferred.
- A valid driver's license may be required.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, employees, clients, and third parties.
- Effective reading and writing skills for proposals, contracts, reports, correspondence, instructions, and training materials.
- Working knowledge of basic mathematics, budgeting, profit-and-loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, reasoning, motivation, organization, and training abilities.
- Ability to manage client follow-up, account records, reporting deadlines, and multiple sales priorities with accuracy and consistent follow-through.

- Director of Sales & Marketing, Sales and Events teams, hotel leadership, and associates across all hotel departments.
- Prime Hospitality Group and Marriott sales, revenue, marketing, opening, and operational support resources, as applicable.
External
- Guests, prospective clients, confirmed clients, corporate accounts, associations, organizations, and social groups.
- Airlines, wholesalers, travel agencies, advertising agencies, and other business partners that may generate repeat or new business.
- Professional organizations, community groups, trade-show and convention contacts, and other market partners, as needed.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing or movement within and outside the hotel or other facilities.
- Ability to handle objects and carry or lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel for workshops, trade shows, conventions, sales trips, client presentations, or other business needs.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
