Position Description
As the Supervisor, you will report to the Student & Family Services Division (SFSD) Executive Director and be a part of the Student and Family Services Division and leadership team.
The Supervisor of Health Services provides strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and operational management for the district’s comprehensive health programs. This role is responsible for supervising a large team of school-based and specialized nursing personnel, ensuring compliance with state-mandated health programs, managing public health partnerships, and securing departmental funding. The Supervisor serves as the primary district representative for infectious disease control, specialized Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), and community health initiatives. They will work closely with other divisional leaders to ensure that students and families are centered in these processes and they understand their rights and responsibilities. They will work closely with other departments and schools to ensure processes are followed and staff are trained to follow all health mandates, district policies and procedures. They will help lead cross divisional work whenever necessary.
Essential Duties

1. Personnel Management & Clinical Supervision

Direct Supervision: Supervise and Support a team of site-level School District Nurses (SDNs) within the Nurse Cohort Model, Nurse Program Coordinators (NPCs), and Central Nurses dedicated to vision and hearing screenings.

Operational Leadership: Lead regular staff alignment and support initiatives, including clinical consultations. Direct grant and budget development, monitoring, and management to ensure fiscal responsibility. Oversee and facilitate data strategies to drive continuous programmatic and operational improvement. Set the strategic vision for the department and provide critical support to departmental management.

Workforce Development: Manage human resources processes, including the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, placement, and performance evaluation of credentialed nursing staff.

Mentorship & Support: Facilitate professional growth through a Case Consultation Model, Job Alike Leaders (JAL) framework, and the Cohort Model to mentor both permanent SDNs and temporary agency nurses.

Stakeholder Engagement: Provide high-level engagement and strategic support to diverse audiences and key stakeholders.

Evaluation: Evaluation of certificated nurses and other staff.

Other leadership responsibilities within classification as assigned by the Executive Team
2. Public Health Compliance & State Mandates

Infectious Disease Control: Serve as the primary District representative for infectious disease prevention, surveillance, and response protocols (e.g., COVID-19, Norovirus, Tuberculosis) in coordination with the Department of Public Health (DPH).

Health Screenings: Manage the execution, data collection, and state reporting for district-wide vision and hearing screenings across mandated grade levels
3. Strategy, Communications & Fiscal Oversight

Stakeholder Liaison: Maintain a strong connection with the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH), site administrators, and school communities to communicate health protocols and address service requests.

Interdepartmental Collaboration: Partner with Central Nurses and the District Communications team to develop, update, and disseminate clear clinical protocols, FAQs, and public-facing health advisories.

MOU & Partnership Management: Maintain a comprehensive awareness of current operational MOUs, ensuring specialized agreements are executed seamlessly across agency and school sites.

Fiscal Sustainability: Prepare, justify, and submit annual Public Education Enrichment Fund (PEEF) funding requests to support and scale health services programming.

Digital Presence: Oversee the annual review and update of the Health Services department website to ensure accurate community resources and information.
Minimum Qualifications

Valid California Administrative Services Credential

1 year of administrative experience as a Central Office Administrator or Site Leader or other comparable leadership experience.
