The Operations Manager is a key member of the Operations Team, reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations. This role sits at the intersection of technology, systems, and school operations ensuring that both digital infrastructure and day-to-day operational systems run smoothly, efficiently, and in service of student achievement.
This position is responsible for managing the school’s technology ecosystem, overseeing student information systems, and supporting operational execution across the building. The Operations Manager works closely with leadership, instructional staff, and operations team members to build and maintain systems that allow the school community to function at a high level.
Key Responsibilities
Technology & Systems Management
- Oversee and maintain all school technology infrastructure, including laptops, tablets, smartboards, printers, and networking systems
- Provide timely troubleshooting and technical support to staff and students; serve as the primary point of contact for IT-related issues
- Manage and maintain inventory of all technology assets, including tracking, procurement, deployment, and lifecycle planning
- Ensure all systems meet data security standards and comply with applicable privacy laws (e.g., FERPA)
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access across platforms (Google Workspace, SIS, etc.)
- Manage and maintain all organizational social media platforms and the school website, ensuring content is accurate, current, aligned with brand standards, and approved by school leadership.
- Coordinate with leadership to develop, schedule, and monitor digital communications and engagement strategies that support school visibility, family engagement, and consistent messaging.
Student Data & Information Systems
- Serve as the school’s lead administrator for Student Information Systems (SIS) such as SchoolMint, Infinite Campus, or equivalent platforms
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of student data, including enrollment, attendance, grading, and assessment records
- Generate reports and dashboards to support leadership decision-making and compliance requirements
- Partner with instructional leadership to align data systems with academic priorities and assessment cycles
- Support state reporting, audits, and compliance submissions
Operations & School Systems Support
- Support the execution of core operational systems, including arrival, dismissal, attendance tracking, and communication workflows
- Assist with planning and execution of school-wide events, assessments, and operational initiatives
- Manage technology logistics for testing (e.g., state exams, interim assessments)
- Collaborate with the Operations Team to streamline workflows and improve efficiency through systems and automation
- Support front office operations and step in as needed to ensure seamless daily operations
Strategic Operations & Project Management
- Lead and support cross-functional projects that improve school operations and technology integration
- Identify gaps in systems and proactively implement solutions that increase efficiency and reduce manual workload
- Develop and document clear operational and technology procedures for staff use
- Train staff on systems, tools, and best practices to ensure consistent and effective implementation
Work Schedule
- On-site, Mon-Fri 8am to 4pm
Key Competencies & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support, operations, or systems management (school-based experience strongly preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of Student Information Systems (e.g., SchoolMint, PowerSchool) and Google Workspace
- Demonstrated ability to manage both technical systems and operational workflows
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a solutions-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across diverse stakeholders
- High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Knowledge of student data privacy laws and compliance requirements (e.g., FERPA)
- Experience supporting standardized testing platforms and reporting
- Prior experience in a charter school or fast-paced school environment preferred
Salary & Benefits
$80k - $90k
