Position Summary
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing administrative and accounting support to the Finance Department by processing invoices, maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions. This position assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, and general accounting functions while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Process accounts payable invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
- Prepare and process accounts receivable transactions, including customer billing and payment posting.
- Verify invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation.
- Reconcile bank statements, vendor statements, and general ledger accounts.
- Enter financial transactions into the accounting system accurately and promptly.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Generate financial reports, spreadsheets, and account reconciliations as requested.
- Assist with payroll processing by verifying time records and supporting payroll documentation when needed.
- Respond to vendor and internal department inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and account balances.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and employee records.
- Assist with audits by gathering documentation and preparing requested reports.
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accounts as directed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Perform filing, scanning, and general administrative duties within the Finance Department.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Education

High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- One (1) to three (3) years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience preferred.
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes preferred.
- Healthcare or correctional healthcare experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems preferred.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
