SUMMARY
Directs and manages Public Safety Communications IT projects to ensure the development and implementation of cost-effective and efficient computer systems operations meet budget and scheduling requirements. The Information Systems Project Manager assists in the planning, scheduling and production activities associated with Police, Fire and EMA Departments Windows Computer Network, as well as the Case Management and Electronic Purchasing Systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provides information processing, systems counseling and guidance to personnel throughout the Police Department.
- Assists the Public Safety Systems Administrator with the design, development, and maintenance of systems, programs, and systems software to meet the public safety information needs.
- Uses MIS policies, standard and practices to ensure effective and consistent information processing operations and to safeguard information resources.
- Maintains knowledge of developments in the area of systems and hardware and recommends new developments into future systems for the Public Safety Divisions.
- Maintains hardware and software vendors and maintenance of contracts.
- Ensures that new or modified systems are adequately tested before being moved to production
- Implement and enforce security standards
- Implement and enforcing security standards in conjunction with the Public Safety Director or IT Administrator.
- Assists the Public Safety Systems Administrator with testing and putting disaster recovery plans into operation.
- Recommends the purchase, rent, lease or other acquisition from outside sources of computer systems, communications systems, office systems, hardware, software or services to meet the needs of the Police, Fire or EMA Departments in accordance with established City policies
- Recommends changes in data processing, communications or office system equipment so that expenses are minimized while ensuring reliable and timely services.
- Assists and plans in the implementation of education, training and professional development programs for IT department personnel to ensure compliance and proper use of software and IT systems.
- Upgrades, maintains and repairs all data processing, communications or office systems equipment.
- Radio Communications troubleshooting and programming
- Training of new personnel on software systems used for Dispatch and NCIC, including conducting evaluations and providing feedback on their usage of the systems.
- Troubleshoot and maintenance of all telecommunications systems
- Website design and maintenance
- Troubleshoot, repair and maintenance of video hardware
- Training Police Computer Operations Specialists and Assistant Police Computer Specialists in all aspects of their position responsibilities
- Performing related duties as required, as assigned by the Director of Public Safety or their designee
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has the supervisory responsibilities necessary to direct staff workflow for given projects.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains a work request system showing priority and estimated time of completion.
Enters data into computer terminal to store, retrieve and manipulate for analysis of systems capabilities and requirements.
Maintain and provide analysis of crimes, activities and reports as needed by the Chief of Police or other department employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Pay: $32.10 - $37.14 per hour
