The Convenience Store Team Member plays a vital role in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring efficient daily store operations. This position requires a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented individual who can multitask in a fast-paced retail environment. Team members are responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked store while providing prompt and courteous service to all customers.
Customer Service

Greets customers warmly and assists with product selection and inquiries. Responds appropriately to customer issues.

Demonstrates and explains merchandise, suggesting options suitable for the customer’s needs. Assists customers with purchase decisions.

Answers customer’s questions about merchandise. Uses suggestive selling techniques to upsell featured items, boost store sales and promote store specials and loyalty programs.
Sales and Cash Handling

Accurately operates cash register or point of sale devices. Collects and processes cash, credit and digital payments using the store point of sale system.

Handles refunds, exchanges and voids transactions according to company policy.

Maintains awareness of loss prevention and theft prevention procedures.

Follows all state and federal regulations for gas, alcohol, tobacco and lottery sales.
Merchandising and Inventory

Stocks shelves, coolers and displays to ensure products are readily available. Assists with inventory counts and receiving deliverables.

Rotates Merchandise following FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures. Checks expiration dates and removes outdated products.
Store Maintenance and Safety

Maintains cleanliness of sales floor, restrooms, food prep areas and exterior.

Follows food safety and sanitation guidelines when preparing food or beverages.

Ensures compliance with safety regulations and store policies. Reports equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
Teamwork and Operations

Collaborates with team members to maintain smooth shift operations. Adapts to flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Prompt and regular attendance on required shifts. Maintains a clean and polished appearance. Adheres to uniform and dress code policies.

Supports management with daily, operational tasks. Follows opening and closing procedures.
