Role Description The Office Intake & Authorization Specialist – Medicaid (Healthcare Office) is a full-time, on-site role based in Las Vegas, NV. This role is responsible for receiving and processing new client referrals, collecting required demographic and clinical information, and verifying Medicaid eligibility and benefits. The specialist prepares and submits authorization requests to Medicaid and managed care organizations, tracks approvals and denials, and follows up with payers to resolve issues. Daily tasks include maintaining accurate records in office systems, communicating with clients, caregivers, and healthcare providers, and coordinating start-of-care dates and service changes. The role also involves ensuring compliance with Medicaid and agency policies, safeguarding confidential information, and supporting general office operations as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong administrative and office coordination skills, including data entry, document management, and scheduling.
- Experience with insurance verification, Medicaid eligibility checks, and prior authorization processes in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency with electronic health records or client management systems, and basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, word processing).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with clients, families, caregivers, and providers.
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple referrals and authorizations simultaneously.
- Understanding of confidentiality requirements and adherence to HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Ability to work on-site in Las Vegas, NV, maintain reliable attendance, and collaborate effectively with office and field staff.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework in healthcare administration, billing, or related fields is a plus.
- Previous experience in a Medicaid, home care, or healthcare office environment preferred.
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
