The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, appetizing meals for residents in accordance with approved menus, therapeutic diets, physician orders, and food safety standards. The Cook works closely with the Dietary Manager and dietary staff to ensure high-quality meal service while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, standardized recipes, and portion guidelines.
Prepare therapeutic and modified diets as directed by physician orders and dietary guidelines.
Ensure meals are served on time and at the proper temperature.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and report equipment malfunctions.
Store food properly and rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
Monitor food temperatures and maintain required logs and documentation.
Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing food deliveries.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, food preparation areas, equipment, and workstations.
Work cooperatively with the Dietary Manager, dietary aides, nursing staff, and other team members.
Assist with special events, holiday meals, and catering as assigned.
Follow all federal, state, and facility regulations regarding food preparation and resident safety.
