The general purpose of the Sanitation Crew member is to ensure that residential trash and recyclable material is picked up in a timely manner. They are also responsible for maintaining various facilities around the city, and helping to keep city streets clean and free of debris.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
1. Collect garbage, yard waste, and recyclable material.
2. Dump trash with a forklift, operate packer on the back of Sanitation trucks.
3. Observe safety procedures while performing garbage and recycle pick-up.
4. Collaborate well with other members of your sanitation crew. Be mindful of their safety, as well as your own while working around equipment and facilities.
5. Weed eat, cut grass, blow leaves and cut trees as directed .
6. Maintain trucks and backhoes, and operate refuse compactors. W ash and fuel trucks and equipment as needed.
7. Instruct transfer station users in the proper methods of separating and depositing different materials.
8. Ensure that the transfer station is sanitary and orderly. This may include: cleaning the transfer station break room, sweeping and mopping, assisting the transfer station operator, and completing other duties and tasks as needed or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
and
- 1 to 6 months related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience
