Staff Accountant
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting experience, be proficient in QuickBooks Online, and hold a degree in Accounting. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, running weekly payroll, preparing reports, performing account reconciliations, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and managing payroll-related accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and accounting entries.
- Prepare and post journal entries and accruals.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
- Complete daily invoicing and ensure accurate billing records.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Run weekly payroll and ensure accurate processing of payroll transactions.
- Review payroll transactions and ensure accurate accounting treatment.
- Maintain payroll records and support payroll-related reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local accounting and payroll regulations.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation.
- Assist with budget tracking and cash flow reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Experience with month-end and year-end close procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with payroll tax filings and payroll compliance.
- Experience interpreting union contracts and managing payroll impacts related to employee benefits.
- Understanding of certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements.
- Experience in the construction industry.
- Experience in a multi-entity environment.
- Experience preparing financial statements and management reports.
- Experience with budgeting and variance analysis.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
