Job Title: Cook (Temporary / On-Call)
Job Overview:
LGC Hospitality Staffing is hiring dependable Cooks to support colleges, K-12 schools, and event-based food service operations. This is a temporary, on-call position ideal for individuals with commercial kitchen experience who can prepare quality meals while working efficiently in fast-paced environments.
You will prepare and cook menu items, maintain food quality standards, and support kitchen operations while representing LGC at client locations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals according to recipes, production sheets, and client specifications
- Operate grills, ovens, fryers, steamers, and other commercial kitchen equipment safely
- Ensure food is prepared, portioned, and presented according to quality standards
- Monitor food temperatures and follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
- Assist with prepping ingredients and maintaining organized workstations
- Restock food items, ingredients, and kitchen supplies throughout the shift
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, equipment, and prep areas
- Assist with setup, service, and breakdown of meal periods or catered events
- Communicate effectively with chefs, supervisors, and kitchen staff
- Arrive on time, in proper uniform, and ready to work
Work Environments:
- Colleges and universities (dining halls, campus events)
- K-12 schools (cafeterias and meal programs)
- Event venues and catering operations
Requirements:
- Previous commercial cooking or kitchen experience required
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume kitchen environments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and production schedules
- Reliable transportation to various job sites
- Flexible schedule (early mornings, daytime shifts, some evenings/weekends)
- Professional appearance and dependable attendance
