American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float pool PCU/Med-Surg Intermediate position requiring 2 years of recent specialty experience, active KS and MO (or compact) licensure, and night shift availability.

This is a float pool position — no permanent home unit is assigned; clinician will rotate between approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments across multiple metro campuses

Patient ratio is 1:5

Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday

No on-call requirements

Block scheduling is not available

Patient population includes cardiac, neuro stepdown, and general PCU cases including pre/post cardiac cath, AFIB, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, GIB, ETOH, SI, wound care, and COVID
-
Required skills include telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response

Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care and management

Equipment used includes 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell

Virtual Nurse support is available on the unit

Active RN license for both Kansas and Missouri — or a compact license — must be in hand at time of consideration; unwillingness to float across state lines may result in cancellation

A KS or compact RN license is required

Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/Med-Surg Intermediate specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year

Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Preferred certification: ACLS

Pending licenses are not accepted

2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year

SSN must be provided for consideration

Responsibilities include caring for PCU patients across multiple units and campuses as a float pool nurse, with charge RN assignments as needed

Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned by the unit

Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this position

RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract

Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment

Orientation modules are required and completed prior to start (approximately 10–15 hours total), with annual renewal
