Position Overview
The Eligibility Assistant performs administrative duties of Eligibility department. The Eligibility Assistant reports to the Eligibility Coordinator. Eligibility Assistant is responsible for assisting the Eligibility Coordinator with administrative tasks related to initial and on-going eligibility screenings, communicating program requirements, and assisting patients in understanding how to maintain eligibility, making appropriate referrals to other community resources, and performing related work as assigned.
Essential ELIGIBILITY Job Functions:
1. Assists Eligibility Coordinator in maintaining complete and accurate record of patients’ eligibility within the EMR program, including: creating new patient charts, inputting/updating patient demographics, inputting new patient paperwork as well as Release of Information, and HIPAA compliance paperwork; completes medical record request paperwork as needed.
2. Assists with interviewing patients to obtain necessary factual information, and verifies information received from patients including income verification.
3. Communicates program time limits, expectations, and other program requirements to the patient.
4. Assists with creation of patient IDs, scanning of eligibility paperwork, and scheduling new patient appointments.
5. Fills in for eligibility shift as needed.
6. May be required to track and run reports on a specific status of the incoming patient population to aid in grant reporting, such as Veteran status; the specific status to be tracked may vary.
7. May be asked to conduct eligibility at special events such as Project Homeless Connect and recruitment efforts for pediatric outreach.
8. Makes referrals to Care Coordination services, when appropriate.
9. Any other tasks as required.
Required Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Bilingual in English and Spanish; Written and Spoken.
3. Minimum (1) year of experience working in a medical facility/clinic reception desk or similar.
4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
5. Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
6. Strong organizational skills; ability to manage priorities with high volume of detailed work.
7. Passion for improving the Las Vegas community through non-profit work.
8. Sensitivity to the needs of diverse, low-income, and ethnic populations.
9. Positive and motivated self-starter.
10. Working knowledge of computers including Windows and Microsoft Office.
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
