Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Position Summary
Revel Surf is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve the custom machinery that powers our surf park. This position is responsible for maintaining the Prototype Wave Machine and supporting the park’s hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and water treatment systems. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and enjoys solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on the Prototype Wave Machine.
- Assist with wave machine maintenance, upgrades, and improvement projects.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
- Respond quickly to maintenance requests and equipment failures.
- Perform routine inspections to identify and correct potential issues before failures occur.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and parts inventory.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate equipment status and repair needs with management and other departments.
- Assist with general facility maintenance as needed.
- Learn and assist with pool filtration and water treatment systems.
- Help maintain water quality in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Provide professional and courteous service to guests and fellow team members.
Preferred Technical Experience
Candidates with experience in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Heavy equipment, hydraulic equipment, or industrial maintenance experience.
- Heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, and hydraulic components.
- Hydraulic cylinder repair and rebuilding.
- Safe hydraulic and electrical maintenance practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and stored energy hazards.
- Electrical troubleshooting using a digital multimeter.
- Reading and interpreting electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Sensors, limit switches, proximity switches, and basic control systems.
- Basic PLC troubleshooting (programming experience is a plus, but not required).
- Welding and metal fabrication (preferred, but not required).
- Crane operation, rigging, and safe lifting practices.
- Experience safely removing, lifting, rotating, flipping, and installing large, heavy, or irregularly shaped mechanical components.
- Understanding of center of gravity, load balancing, and proper rigging techniques.
- Experience aligning shafts, bearings, hydraulic cylinders, and rotating equipment.
- Ability to fabricate or modify components when required.
- Preventative maintenance programs and equipment inspections.
- Parts inventory management and maintenance documentation.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of how mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems interact.
- Ability to recognize how removing or adjusting one component affects the operation of the entire system.
- Ability to safely disassemble, repair, and reassemble complex equipment while maintaining proper alignment and operation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Comfortable working in and around water.
- Swimming and free-diving experience required.
- Scuba certification is a plus.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, flexible schedules, and participate in an on-call rotation.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Walk and stand for extended periods.
- Climb ladders and stairs.
- Frequently bend, reach, kneel, and work in awkward positions.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Physically capable of working in Arizona’s extreme summer heat.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
