Are you a relationship-driven sales professional who understands the commercial construction process and enjoys developing business with architects, designers, contractors, developers, and specification partners?
We are partnering with a growing commercial lighting manufacturer seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth throughout the Northern New Jersey and New York metropolitan markets.
This role focuses on generating opportunities during the pre-construction and specification phases of commercial projects while building long-term relationships with key decision-makers across the construction industry.

Develop new business opportunities within the commercial construction market

Build relationships with architects, designers, engineers, developers, general contractors, and electrical contractors

Drive product specification opportunities during the design and pre-construction phases

Partner with lighting representatives, distributors, and channel partners to increase market penetration

Identify upcoming projects and influence product selection before construction begins

Conduct presentations, lunch-and-learns, and product demonstrations

Expand existing customer relationships while developing new accounts

Track project opportunities from specification through installation

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful project execution

Meet and exceed territory sales and growth objectives

5+ years of business development, sales, specification sales, or project management experience

Experience selling into commercial construction, architectural, engineering, lighting, electrical, building products, or related industries

Established relationships with architects, designers, contractors, developers, engineers, or distributors

Strong understanding of the commercial construction and pre-construction process

Experience influencing specifications and project decisions

Proven ability to generate new business and develop long-term customer relationships
