Position Summary
The Night Auditor is responsible for providing exceptional overnight guest service while completing the hotel's nightly accounting and audit procedures. This position combines front desk responsibilities with financial reporting to ensure the accuracy of guest accounts, daily transactions, and hotel records.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, is detail-oriented, and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.
Schedule: Overnight Shift (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Reports To: Front Office Supervisor, Operations Manager, General Manager
Essential Responsibilities:
Guest Service
- Welcome guests with a friendly, professional attitude.
- Check guests in and out efficiently.
- Respond promptly to guest questions, requests, and concerns.
- Resolve guest issues professionally and escalate concerns when necessary.
- Maintain Hyatt's standards of hospitality and service throughout the overnight shift.
Night Audit & Accounting
- Complete all nightly audit procedures accurately and on time.
- Balance daily room revenue, cash, credit card, and miscellaneous transactions.
- Verify guest accounts and correct billing discrepancies.
- Generate and distribute required daily financial and operational reports.
- Prepare the Daily Flash Report and other required audit documentation.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Front Office Operations
- Operate the Property Management System (PMS) efficiently.
- Process reservations, payments, and guest account adjustments.
- Complete end-of-day system procedures.
- Maintain front desk logs and shift reports.
- Ensure all front office procedures are completed before the end of the shift.
Safety & Security
- Monitor hotel activity during overnight hours.
- Follow hotel safety, emergency, and security procedures.
- Conduct property walks as required.
- Report maintenance, security, or safety concerns immediately.
- Maintain communication with hotel management and overnight staff.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, organized front desk and lobby area.
- Assist with luggage or guest requests as needed.
- Support other departments during overnight operations.
- Perform additional duties assigned by management.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic math and accounting skills.
- Ability to accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and guest billing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable using computers and hotel management software.
- Ability to remain calm and professional while handling guest concerns.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexible to work weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts.
Preferred
- Previous hotel front desk or Night Audit experience.
- Experience with Hyatt systems or hotel Property Management Systems (PMS).
- Customer service or hospitality experience.
- Bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for the majority of the shift.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Assist guests with luggage when necessary.
- Use computers and office equipment for extended periods.
- Bend, reach, and move throughout the hotel as needed.
