Position Summary
Help deliver advanced undersea defense capabilities that support critical U.S. Navy missions. As an Acoustic Lab Technician, you will play a hands-on role in developing and testing next-generation Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) technology.
You will support engineering development through the fabrication and prototyping of underwater transducers, transducer assembly, failure analysis, test fixture development, and product testing. Working closely with engineering teams, you will help transform innovative designs into reliable, mission-ready systems.
This role includes hands-on build and test activities, as well as supporting lot acceptance testing at U.S. Navy locations and our Lapel, IN test facility. Travel may be required up to 75%.
Job Description
Required Skills :
Must hold or have ability to obtain a US Government Secret security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.
Applicant must have a demonstrated aptitude in the fabrication & assembly of mechanical devices as well as the ability to use a variety of tools.
Applicant must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including working with detailed procedures, documenting test results, and communicating with engineers and other technicians.
This position requires a minimum HS Diploma and 6+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of the two.
Desired Skills:
Experience supporting production of electro-mechanical devices and/or working in a laboratory environment is desired.
Experience with model shop equipment (drill press, brake, bandsaw, grinder, sander, etc.)
Experience with measurement equipment (impedance analyzer, signal generator, etc.)
Experience with standard hand tools
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Soldering experience
Experience with adhesives and potting materials
Ability to understand mechanical drawings / prints and electrical schematics
Physical Requirements :
Willing and able to travel to government and company test facilities to support sonobuoy testing
Willing and able to ride and work on Government test vessels
Normal color vision, manual dexterity
Must be able to lift 40 pounds, infrequently, floor to waist height
