Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in delivering therapy sessions focused on improving children’s fine motor skills, sensory processing, and functional independence.
- Support children during activities that promote development of daily living skills such as dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Help implement individualized care plans by preparing materials, setting up therapy spaces, and documenting progress.
- Collaborate with families and caregivers to reinforce therapy goals through home exercises and activity suggestions.
- Monitor children’s responses during therapy sessions, ensuring safety and comfort at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care activities, progress notes, and session reports in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Assist with assessments related to pediatric development, including observing and recording behavioral and physical responses.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of pediatric physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to child development.
- Experience assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, feeding, and toileting in a therapeutic context.
- Familiarity with outpatient clinics, specializing in pediatrics.
- Ability to understand and follow care plans developed by licensed occupational therapists.
- Knowledge of medical imaging procedures or related diagnostic tools is a plus but not required.
- Experience working with children who have developmental delays or disabilities in various healthcare settings.
- Excellent patient care skills combined with compassionate communication tailored for young patients and their families.
