RF Analog Design Engineer, Analog and Mixed Signal Systems
Huntsville, AL
$110,000 to $160,000 per year
This employer is part of a larger global technology organization and is a recognized name in rugged, open architecture embedded computing for aerospace, defense, and industrial markets. The team designs next generation RF and mixed signal hardware supporting radar, electronic warfare, communications, and signal processing platforms, including current work on FMC and RFSoC based product lines. This role sits within that RF hardware group, working alongside FPGA, PCB layout, embedded software, and systems engineers.
Schedule
Full time, direct hire position based in Huntsville, AL. Travel is minimal. Relocation assistance is available.
Compensation
$110,000 to $160,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
What You'll Do
As an RF Analog Design Engineer, you will develop analog front end architectures for high performance embedded computing products, designing RF signal paths, low noise analog circuitry, clocking systems, and power architectures. Your work will span the full signal chain, from the RF connector and filter networks through the analog front end, A/D and D/A converters, and FPGA based processing, including hands on debugging and validation through final product release. You will collaborate closely with PCB layout engineers on schematic capture, component placement, controlled impedance routing, grounding, shielding, isolation, and power distribution, particularly on multi-board systems requiring timing synchronization across boards. Your work will span the complete product lifecycle from concept and simulation through hardware validation and production, giving you direct influence over architecture decisions and signal integrity tradeoffs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
Demonstrated experience designing a complex RF or mixed signal system from concept through production, including the full signal chain from RF front end through analog filtering, A/D and D/A conversion, and FPGA based processing
Experience designing RF input/output networks and selecting RF components, including filter topology selection and design techniques to minimize noise, signal loss, and signal integrity issues
Experience selecting and integrating high speed ADCs and DACs from vendors such as Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, or similar, including datasheet evaluation, tradeoff analysis, and FPGA interfacing
Experience designing clock generation, clock distribution, and low noise power architectures for high speed mixed signal systems, including managing jitter, phase noise, and supply noise across multiple sampling rates and bandwidths
Strong understanding of RF design theory, including filter design, impedance matching, signal integrity, noise mitigation, shielding, and grounding
Strong experience designing RF circuits operating up to 18 GHz
Experience taking RF hardware from system architecture through schematic capture, PCB implementation, hardware debugging, validation, and production
Hands on laboratory experience using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and network analyzers
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing systems using AMD Xilinx RFSoC devices and other FPGA based RF processing platforms
Experience with board to board synchronization, timing distribution, phase alignment, and multi-board RF systems
