Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Science Teacher to inspire and educate students in the sciences, fostering curiosity and critical thinking. This role involves delivering engaging lessons across various science disciplines, which could include biology, chemistry, physics, and physical science, while supporting diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will bring a dynamic teaching style, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to student success. You will play a vital role in creating a positive classroom environment that promotes academic excellence and personal growth for all students. This position is being offered at either full-time or part-time.
Teaching Responsibilities
· Prepare daily lesson plans in all required subjects that include learning targets that align to standards
· Prepare and implement instructional strategies that will meet the needs of each student to ensure student growth
· Assess students often and modify instruction based on assessments to meet the needs of each student and to ensure growth toward meeting/succeeding learning targets
· Practice differentiated instruction in all lessons by regularly designing lessons based on students’ learning styles, grouping students by shared interest, topic or ability for assignments, and continually assess and adjust lesson content to meet students’ needs
· Regularly use small group/stations, Socratic seminars and individualized instruction as a mode of instruction
· Provide opportunities for the enhancement of the student's self-concept
· Assist individuals by helping him/her to overcome learning difficulties
· Develop evaluation techniques that are appropriate to the class and individual objectives.
· Prepare adequately for parent conferences using best practices
· Keep reliable set of records for review of administrator, department chair, and parents
· Call for case conferences with resource personnel whenever consultation with the Principal determines need
· Encourage integrated instruction whenever possible
· Plan experiences which include cross curriculum
· Incorporate the humanities and fine arts as well as writing
· Include the Catholic social teachings within curriculum
· Provide opportunities for critical thinking, problem solving and the development of study skills
· Provide a secure, safe learning environment
· Maintain beautiful learning spaces that highlight student exemplars
· Ensure the love and dignity for each child. Use strategies that do not single out/shame students publically when disciplining
· Encourage a love of learning by developing engaging lessons
· Take responsibility for the care of instructional materials and equipment
Supervising Responsibilities
· Responsible to supervise students in accordance with the building regulations established
· Provide supervision in the areas to which his/her students are assigned
· Encourage students to conduct themselves in the manner and modes of conduct which have been defined as acceptable by the administrator and staff
· Accept and perform supervisory duties as assigned
· Supervise and discipline regardless of grade level
· Shares in responsibility for safety and health of each child
Professional
· Responsible to carry his/her share of professional duties as assigned by the administrator.
· Attend all faculty, in-service, home-school and parish meetings according to the areas of responsibility
· Actively participates in school committee assignments
· Participate in leadership roles for the betterment of the school system
· Earn and maintain appropriate Religious certification
· Responsible for continued, professional growth
· Complete annual professional growth and development goals
· Read professional literature to stay updated in the field of education
· Attend workshops and seminars in related fields for personal and professional development
· Support the mission of Catholic schools and of ACS in particular
Religious Foundation
· Be a good Christian role model in supporting the Catholic faith and by demonstrating love and dignity for each human person
· Encourage spiritual growth in students by developing inner discipline, character, morals, values, and the love for each other in the spirit of Jesus Christ
· Provide leadership in living and celebrating life and liturgies
· Complete and maintain Diocesan religion certification
· Be a practicing Catholic and maintain loyalty to the teachings of the Magisterium
