The Family Garden is a small, non-profit childcare center looking for a caring, positive and energetic individual to fill our Lead Teacher position in our preschool aged classroom.

Therefore, we at The Family Garden provide a caring, comfortable and safe environment by establishing routines that are predictable and consistent, as well as treating all children equally with gentleness, honesty and respect. We will encourage children to treat their peers in the same manner.
We offer an emergent curriculum and we strive to enhance social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth in our children. The Family Garden fosters curiosity, independence, creativity and self-esteem by taking into account individuals’ abilities and interests. Our child initiated and teacher supported play is an essential component of our program.

Some tasks that this job entails are:
- Supervising and interacting with children in all activities
- Maintaining varying schedules for all children in the group
- Treating children respectfully, appreciating cultural diversity
- Helping children control behavior using a positive, appropriate approach
- Planning and implementing an emergent curriculum
- Planning, preparing and caring for the environment including daily housekeeping tasks
- Maintaining observational records and other classroom logs
- Maintaining a positive relationship with parents and staff
In order to qualify you must meet Child Care Licensing Regulation 7.3.2.2 or be in the process of obtaining your certification, already having 12 college credits in Early Childhood Education. We are willing to help you achieve this qualification.
7.3.2.2 Teacher Associate
A teacher associate is at least twenty (20) years of age, is a high school graduate or has completed a GED, and meets one (1) of the following qualifications:
- At least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Three (3) Certificate; or
- At least an associate degree from an accredited college with a major or concentration in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Services and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or
- At least a Certificate of Completion from the Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program; or At least a Child Care Certificate from the Community College of Vermont and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or
- At least successful completion of twenty-one (21) college credits with an early childhood or school age focus and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger.
At least 12 months experience working in a child care setting and a Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certificate. We will help you obtain this if you are not yet certified.
