Cashier – Family-Owned Restaurant
Overview
Join our friendly, family-owned restaurant as a Cashier, where you’ll play an important role in creating a welcoming experience for every guest. Our cashier is often one of the first and last people our customers interact with, so we’re looking for someone who is warm, reliable, attentive, and enjoys working with people.
In this role, you’ll greet customers, take and process dine-in and takeout orders, operate the POS system, handle cash and card transactions, answer phone calls, and help keep the front-of-house area clean and organized. You’ll work closely with our restaurant team to ensure orders are accurate and customers receive friendly, efficient service.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, attentive service.
- Take accurate dine-in and takeout orders in person and over the phone.
- Operate the POS system to enter orders and process cash, credit/debit, and other payments.
- Handle cash responsibly, maintain an accurate cash drawer, and assist with balancing the register at the end of shifts.
- Answer phone calls professionally and assist customers with menu questions, orders, and general inquiries.
- Provide customers with menu information and make recommendations when appropriate.
- Confirm takeout orders for accuracy before handing them to customers.
- Communicate clearly with kitchen and restaurant staff to ensure orders are prepared correctly and efficiently.
- Package and organize takeout orders, including utensils, sauces, and other requested items.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming cashier and front-of-house area.
- Assist with restocking supplies and other light restaurant duties as needed.
- Help the restaurant team during busy periods and contribute to a positive, family-oriented work environment.
- Follow restaurant policies for food safety, cleanliness, customer service, and cash handling.
Requirements
- Previous cashier or restaurant experience is preferred but not required; we are willing to train the right person.
- Friendly, positive, and customer-focused attitude.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to accurately take orders and handle basic math.
- Comfortable operating a POS system or willing to learn.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and professional during busy periods.
- Responsible handling of cash and customer payments.
- Professional phone etiquette.
- Ability to follow instructions and pay close attention to order details.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Previous experience working in a small business, restaurant, or customer-service environment is a plus.

Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
