Job Overview:
Olive Pit Grill Brea is seeking professional, hospitality-focused Servers to join our front-of-house team. We are a high-volume, elevated casual Mediterranean restaurant with a full bar, strong food program, and growing beverage program.
This position is first and foremost a server role. Candidates must be able to provide warm hospitality, guide guests through the menu, make thoughtful food and beverage recommendations, follow Olive Pit service standards, and work as part of a fast-paced team.
Bartending experience is a plus. However, bartenders at Olive Pit are expected to first understand our food, service style, guest expectations, and server standards. Candidates with bartending experience may be considered for bartender training after demonstrating strong server performance, or may complete server and bartender training back-to-back when business needs require immediate bar coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests promptly and provide warm, professional hospitality.
- Guide first-time guests through our Mediterranean food and beverage menu.
- Take accurate food and drink orders using Toast POS.
- Make thoughtful recommendations for appetizers, entrées, desserts, wine, beer, cocktails, and premium spirits.
- Follow Olive Pit’s Steps of Service, including timely greetings, checkbacks, refills, pre-bussing, dessert offers, and inviting guests back.
- Maintain strong knowledge of menu ingredients, allergens, modifications, sides, sauces, and preparation styles.
- Communicate clearly with expo, kitchen, bartenders, managers, and other FOH team members.
- Run food and drinks, support teammates, and maintain a strong sense of urgency.
- Practice responsible alcohol service, including checking IDs, monitoring guest alcohol consumption, and involving management when needed.
- Execute proper wine service when trained.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and involve a manager when appropriate.
- Complete assigned side work, running side work, and closing duties thoroughly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room, service stations, and guest-facing areas.
- Process payments accurately and handle cash/credit transactions carefully.
- Follow all Olive Pit policies, health standards, alcohol service requirements, and workplace expectations.
Bartender Candidate Responsibilities, When Applicable:
- Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages according to Olive Pit standards.
- Manage bar guests while also handling a table section when assigned.
- Maintain bar cleanliness, organization, stocking, and opening/closing standards.
- Prepare service tickets efficiently while preserving quality and presentation.
- Understand and recommend wine, beer, cocktails, and premium spirits in a guest-friendly way.
- Support beverage sales through education and hospitality, not pressure.
- Follow California RBS and responsible alcohol service standards at all times.
Qualifications:
- Previous serving experience required.
- Previous high-volume restaurant experience strongly preferred.
- Bartending experience preferred but not required for all candidates.
- California RBS certification required or must be obtained before serving alcohol.
- California Food Handler certification preferred or must be obtained as required.
- Familiarity with Toast POS is a plus.
- Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy and hospitality.
- Comfortable learning detailed food, wine, beer, cocktail, and spirits information.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 pounds, and occasionally move heavier items such as kegs or supply boxes using proper equipment or team assistance.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.
