Cafe Team Member — Part-Time | Palm Court Cafe
Palm Court Cafe, the weekday breakfast and lunch cafe inside Urban Palms by Critics Choice Catering & Event Production, is looking for an enthusiastic and dependable Cafe Team Member. In this role, you'll provide genuinely warm hospitality while helping keep our cafe clean, organized, and running smoothly. You'll assist with food preparation, guest service, and cashiering, all while upholding our food safety standards and the welcoming atmosphere our regulars love.
Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (15 hours/week)
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Location: Palm Court Cafe at Urban Palms, 889 W. 190th Street, Gardena, CA 90248
What You'll Do
- Prepare and serve food and beverage items according to established recipes and quality standards
- Operate the Clover POS system for order processing and cash handling
- Greet guests warmly, take orders accurately, and answer menu questions with confidence
- Suggest and upsell menu items to enhance the guest experience and support sales
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the cafe, including dining space and kitchen equipment
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately, following proper cash-handling procedures
- Bus and reset tables to keep the dining area tidy and welcoming
- Follow all food safety guidelines and health regulations at all times
- Work closely with teammates to keep service smooth and efficient during peak hours
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in food service or a quick-service restaurant is preferred
- Culinary or kitchen experience is a plus
- Familiarity with the Square POS system
- Strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent, genuine customer service skills
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and retail math
- Working knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards
- A team-first attitude paired with self-motivation
