Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fire Alarm Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems across various commercial and industrial buildings. Responsibilities
- Install fire alarm systems according to blueprints, schematics, and building code requirements using hand tools, power tools, and CAD software.
- Conduct thorough inspections of fire alarm components, sensors, sprinklers, and related low voltage systems to ensure proper operation.
- Read electrical blueprints and schematics to facilitate system design, troubleshooting, and modifications.
- Perform testing and commissioning of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA standards and NEC regulations.
- Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to ensure fire alarm system integration aligns with project specifications.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and engineering problems related to fire alarm sensors, wiring, or control panels using engineering troubleshooting techniques.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, inspection reports, service logs, and compliance records.
- Provide field service support by diagnosing issues on-site, repairing or replacing faulty components, and ensuring building code compliance.
- Assist in fire sprinkler fitting and integration of sprinkler systems where necessary to support overall fire safety infrastructure.
- Support sales efforts by providing technical expertise on fire alarm solutions during client consultations or system upgrades.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fire alarm system installation, maintenance, or service technician roles within construction or building maintenance environments.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience related to low voltage wiring and electrical blueprint reading.
- Familiarity with schematics, engineering troubleshooting methods, and CAD for system design purposes.
- Knowledge of NFPA standards (National Fire Protection Association), building code compliance requirements, NEC regulations, and fire sprinkler fitting is highly desirable.
- Ability to read electrical blueprints accurately and interpret schematics for complex systems integration.
- Hands-on experience working with sensors, alarms systems sales or fire alarm sales is a plus.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and construction inspection procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently in the field.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and contractors.
