Job Summary
The Diesel Shop Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment.
Key Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, and equipment, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, and electrical systems

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals

Conduct DOT inspections and ensure all equipment meets federal, state, and company safety standards

Complete preventative maintenance services according to company schedules and manufacturer guidelines

Accurately document repairs, parts used, and labor performed
-
Communicate repair needs and safety concerns to shop leadership

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Assist with roadside repairs and emergency breakdowns as

Follow all safety procedures, policies, and best practices

Other duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a diesel technician or mechanic preferred

Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrain systems, and electrical diagnostics

Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, schematics, and service bulletins

Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain

ASE certifications preferred but not required

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
