American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer with 2+ years of acute care Echo experience, including pediatric scanning, for a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital in Macon, GA.

Noninvasive Cardiology department with 2 Echo suites and 2 TEE rooms; bedside scanning for inpatients also required

Average of 40–60 patients per day through the department

Patient population includes pediatric, adult, inpatient, and outpatient cases supporting a large structural heart program

Common diagnoses and procedures include CHF, pre/post Cath, pre/post CABG, pre/post Watchman, pre/post TAVR, PFO and bubble studies, aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, stroke patients, ER patients, TEEs, and stress tests

EMR: Epic; PACS: Philips Cardiovascular/ISCV/Intellaspace

Equipment: Philips and GE echo systems

10-hour day shifts, 8:00 AM–6:30 PM, 40 hours per week

One night call shift per week from end of shift until 7:00 AM the following morning; most likely a weekday but could fall on a weekend; 30-minute response time required

On call for major holidays only; department is open on holiday eves with potential call coverage for up to 50% of holidays per contract

Weekend rotation not currently required

No floating outside the department

Modified self-scheduling in 6-week increments; manager has final approval

Minimum 2 years of acute care Echo experience
-
BLS, ARDMS-RDS or RDCS certification required

Must be comfortable performing pediatric echocardiograms — hard stop requirement

Experience with TEEs, stress tests, pericardiocentesis assistance, and accurate EF measurements required

Active license required if applicable

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Perform transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, stress tests, bubble studies, and assist with pericardiocentesis and other procedures
-
Responsible for documenting preliminary findings in a modifiable report, which is then reviewed and confirmed or amended by the interpreting cardiologist

Fetal scan and stress test experience preferred; candidates without this experience may still be considered with manager approval

Candidates comfortable orienting new hires are preferred

Team includes fellow Echo Techs, a daytime Manager/Supervisor, Central Transport, Cardiologists, and a Rapid Response/Code Team

Orientation includes new employee orientation (NEO) followed by unit orientation for the remainder of the first week, with buddy call during the orientation period

Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved per contract

First-time travelers will be considered

Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible

Local candidates are accepted; no radius rule applies — same rate for local travelers at GA facilities
