Position Summary
The Columbus Organization is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students at an elementary school in the Lakewood School District. The Special Education Teacher will serve as a case manager, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families, facilitate IEP meetings, develop behavior intervention plans, supervise paraeducators, and support students in achieving their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals in an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare a wide variety of written materials (e.g. progress reports, individualized education plans and related documents such as notice of meeting, prior written notice, etc.)

Communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally in all written and oral language

Development, implement, and oversee implementation of individualized education programs to ensure that a student is receiving a free, appropriate, public education.

Communicate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure timely and quality services.

Complete comprehensive documentation of all services as required by the contract district’s policies and procedures.

Document and complete all billing requirements for such services as required by the contract district’s policies and procedures.

Apply current research and theory to inform programming and decision-making.

Provide direction and supervision of district personnel (such as paraprofessionals or new teachers) in the provision of services under the rules and regulations of any State or Federal guidelines, in addition to Quantum’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Valid state teaching license or eligibility for licensure with the appropriate endorsement.

Knowledge of special education practices, individualized instruction, and IEP implementation.

Ability to use instructional and assistive technology to support student learning.

Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with students, families, and school staff.
