Why does the job exist?
The Senior Manager, Medicaid Medical Officer will:
Support the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in overseeing the programmatic and clinical components of the Medicaid program in the state of New Mexico.
How does it get done?
The Senior Manager, Medicaid Medical Officer is responsible for:
Assisting the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) overseeing Bureaus that have a strong clinical and programmatic component such as the Policy and Programs Bureau and the Exempt Services Bureau;
Assisting with provider relations and communication;
Working with the CMO on strategic initiatives for the department;
Working with the CMO on communications with legislators and advocates about the Medicaid program.

Medicaid members in the state of New Mexico;
Medical Assistance Division (MAD) staff.

Minimum Qualification
Master's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and ten (10) years of executive level experience with a heavy strategic/functional strategy impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling sixteen (16) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must obtain a Defensive driving certification.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage with extended periods of sitting. Some travel may be required.
