Ledyard Public Schools Transition Academy is seeking a dedicated Job Coach. The Job Coach, under the supervision of the Special Education Teacher, assists young adult students with disabilities in participating in community-based vocational experiences to develop employment skills. This position follows the school year calendar along with the summer LTA program. The position is considered an 11-month position.
Essential Functions/Duties:
- Provides job coaching to individual and small groups of students through modeling, demonstration, and supportive feedback
- Assists with modification of work tasks and job sites for students as needed
- Monitor individuals' work adjustment and needs through direct observation and through communication with employers, special education teacher, and other stakeholders
- Assists in the task analysis of jobs/community sites and modifications to support students while at a job or community site
- Completes data collection for students' work or community performance goals or other identified outcomes
- Supervises students' work and social behavior; provides appropriate feedback, modeling, and redirection as necessary
- Maintains open and positive communications with work site supervisors and employees to encourage constructive feedback on students' job performance and behavior
- Serves as liaison between the school program and work site
- Safely operate a school vehicle to transport students to and from assigned locations.
- Operate vehicles in accordance with all federal, state, and local traffic laws, Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles regulations, Board of Education policies, and district safety procedures
- Other duties related to this position as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or administrative supervisor
Qualifications:
- College degree preferred and/or industry-related training or experience
- Experience working with student or adults with disabilities preferred
- Ability to be flexible and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills
- Must maintain a valid Passenger endorsement or ability to obtain.
- Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with Board Policy and District insurance requirements.
Pay:
$18.79 - $22.50 an hour for 6.50 hours per day
The position is benefits eligible as outlined in the Standard Benefits package for 11-month positions.
