Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Chiller Technician specializing in the service, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial chiller systems. This role focuses on diagnosing complex system issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring reliable operation of chilled water and related HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial chiller systems (air-cooled, water-cooled, centrifugal, screw, and scroll chillers)
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems (RTUs, chillers, boilers, VRF/VRV systems, etc.)
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and associated equipment
- Inspect and test system components including compressors, condensers, evaporators, controls, and VFDs
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control-related issues to determine root cause
- Monitor and optimize system performance, efficiency, and water treatment conditions
- Assist with chiller installation, retrofits, and system startups/commissioning
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and sequence of operations
- Perform preventative maintenance and system inspections
- Troubleshoot issues and recommend effective, energy-efficient solutions
- Assist with installation, retrofits, and system startups as needed
- Accurately document service work, time, and system conditions
- Use industry tools (gauges, multimeters, leak detectors, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and EPA refrigerant regulations
- Communicate clearly with clients, office staff, and team members
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Universal EPA Certification is required
- Texas Registered HVAC/R Mechanic Certificate required
- Chiller experience required
- Minimum 10 years related experience
- Certificate of completion from an HVAC Technical School is a plus but not required
- Ability to use all necessary tools and equipment required to complete all duties and job
- Must have possession of own tools
- Must be able to work from heights and off ladders
- A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company's insurance carrier
- Understand and communicate the benefits of preventable maintenance
- Demonstrate advanced customer service skills and can communicate clearly, ideas and explanations of problems to commercial customers and coworkers
- Demonstrate the willingness to accept responsibility and be held accountable
- Operate scissor lift, forklift and genie lift in a safe manner
