Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bar Manager to lead daily bar operations and help shape the overall guest experience at our venue. This role is responsible for building and managing a high-performing staff, maintaining operational excellence, and overseeing our live comedy programming. Key Responsibilities
Staff Management & HR
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard bar staff including bartenders, barbacks, and servers
- Conduct performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions, up to and including termination, in compliance with company policy
- Create and maintain weekly staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and professional work environment
- Train staff on service standards, drink preparation, and venue policies
Payroll & Financial Oversight
- Process and manage payroll accurately and on time for all bar staff
- Track hours, tips, and overtime in coordination with management and accounting
- Monitor labor costs and adjust staffing levels to meet budget targets
Comedy Night & Talent Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all comedy night operations
- Coordinate talent booking, contracts, and scheduling for performers in collaboration with ownership Manage logistics before, during, and after shows including stage setup, sound coordination, and guest flow
- Ensure a seamless guest experience during comedy events, balancing service demands with show requirements
- Build and maintain relationships with talent agents, booking contacts, and performers
Security & Venue Safety
- Oversee and coordinate with security staff to ensure the safety of guests and employees
- Enforce capacity limits, ID verification, and venue policies
- Respond to and manage incidents calmly and in accordance with venue protocol
- Serve as a point of escalation for security concerns during operating hours
POS Systems & Operations
- Manage and maintain all point-of-sale systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Train staff on POS procedures, cash handling, and end-of-night reconciliation
- Troubleshoot system issues and liaise with vendors as needed
- Review daily sales reports and share actionable insights with ownership
Scope of Role
This position focuses exclusively on bar operations, staff, and entertainment programming.
Private event management and coordination fall outside the scope of this role and are handled by a separate team.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3 years of hospitality management experience in a bar, restaurant, or entertainment venue
- Demonstrated experience managing payroll and scheduling for hourly staff
- Proven track record of hiring, developing, and retaining service staff
- Experience working with POS systems (Toast, Square, or similar platforms)
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and late nights as required by venue programming
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills Preferred
- Prior experience with live entertainment, comedy club operations, or talent coordination
- Familiarity with security protocols and venue safety practices
- TIPS or ServSafe certification
- Experience managing within a high-volume, entertainment-focused venueWork Environment
- Fast-paced bar and live entertainment setting
- Regular evening, weekend, and holiday availability required
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a loud, dynamic environment
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
