New London Local Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered professional to serve as an Elementary Student Support Counselor. This position is designed to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development of elementary students through a comprehensive, proactive, and collaborative approach.
The district welcomes candidates who hold either a valid School Counselor license or a licensed Social Worker credential, recognizing the value that both backgrounds bring to supporting the whole child.
Qualifications

Valid Ohio School Counselor License (required)
OR
Valid Ohio Licensed Social Worker (LSW or LISW) credential (required) -
Demonstrated ability to support students' social-emotional and behavioral needs

Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
-
Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
-
Knowledge of MTSS frameworks, PBIS, and trauma-informed practices preferred

Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and community partners
Essential Responsibilities

Provide direct support to students through individual and small group counseling
-
Deliver classroom guidance lessons aligned to social-emotional learning standards

Support the implementation of PBIS and other school-wide behavioral frameworks

Collaborate with teachers to address student needs within the classroom setting

Participate in MTSS processes, including data review and intervention planning

Assist in identifying and responding to students experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges

Coordinate with families and external agencies to support student success

Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive school climate

Maintain appropriate documentation and adhere to confidentiality requirements

Supporting school-based initiatives that address barriers to student learning and well-being. (i.e. NLLS Food Pantry, Shop with an Adult, Stuff the Bus, ect.)
