Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Oral Surgery Assistant and an Oral Surgery Float Assistant. In these vital role, you will provide exceptional chairside support during oral surgery procedures, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for our patients. Your expertise in dental assisting, infection control, and medical documentation will contribute to delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with oral surgeons and expand your skills in specialized dental procedures, including wisdom teeth extractions, implant placements, and other complex surgeries. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help uphold our clinic’s standards of clinical excellence and patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with all necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment following dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Assist during oral surgery procedures by handing instruments, managing suction, and maintaining a clear operative field using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and data security.
- Monitor vital signs of patients before, during, and after procedures to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Maintain strict infection prevention management protocols by adhering to healthcare infection control policies and dental sterilization standards.
- Educate patients on post-operative care instructions, including infection control measures and medication guidelines.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless workflow in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and oral surgery cases.
- Support the dental receptionist with appointment scheduling and patient communication as needed.
- As a float assistant, you will be floating between the front and back office as needed.
Experience
- Experience if preferred, but not required.
