JOB TITLE: Café Make-to-Order (MTO) staff member
SUMMARY: A Great Harvest Bakery Cafe Make-to-Order (MTO) staff member creates consistently excellent sandwiches, salads and ingredients by following the Great Harvest recipes and assembly guidelines with precision and mastery in a fast-paced environment. They engage directly with customers, operate equipment, maintain high cleanliness standards, and ensure food quality and safety.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS:
Make-to-Order Production
· Food Assembly: Prepping and preparing made-to-order items such as sandwiches, salads, dressings.
· Quality Control: Ensuring consistency, taste, and quality of all products before serving.
· Speed: Operating with a sense of urgency to minimize wait times during busy periods.
Safety, Sanitation, and Maintenance
· Equipment: Cleaning and maintaining equipment and workspace.
· Food Safety: Adhering to health department regulations, including proper food handling, temperature logging, and contamination prevention.
Operational Support
· Inventory Control: Ordering/Replenishing ingredients and supplies to monitor datings, minimize waste, prevent shortages and overstocks, and maximize profits.
· Opening/Closing: Performing necessary tasks to start or close the MTO station.
· Organizational Skills: to efficiently and effectively prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
· Help others & learn additional skills and be cross-trained in various positions.
· Handle minor problems when necessary.
· Work as part of the Bakery Café Team to foster a positive work culture focused on creating great tasting, quality products, happy customers and staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

· Planning daily production
· Dating and rotation of products
· Preparation of ingredients and making sandwiches and salads
· Follows all safety procedures to ensure an accident‐free workplace
· Treating associates and guests with respect and courtesy
· Carrying out oral and written instructions
· Organization of production, sometimes under busy periods and stressful conditions
· Working in proximity to hot surfaces
· Working with precise measurements
· Consistently producing quality products
· Using math to measure and convert recipe yields
· Lifting and moving materials and products
· Reading, understanding and following recipes, directions, safety rules, etc.
· Handling sharp objects
· Working fast, accurate, clean, consistent and safe to fill customer orders
· Using machinery to perform daily tasks
· Maintaining a high level of sanitation
· Follows all company policies and procedures
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned and takes initiative

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Stable work history. Prior sandwich making experience unnecessary; position will receive on-the-job training.
Certificates, licenses: Valid driver’s license. ServSafe Certification. Food Handler’s Permit.
Special skills needed: Strong communication, organization, multitasking abilities, and attention to detail.
Physical Demands/Stamina: Ability to be on your feet, standing and walking for 8-hour shifts, reach, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Misc. Requirements: Reliable transportation/ability to arrive to work on time, clean driving record, on-call or overtime work, flexible scheduling, cover shifts as needed.
