SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The OSP Route Design Technician will perform various duties as instructed throughout the entire project lifecycle with regards to outside plant planning, engineering, route mapping, site surveys, fiber splice design, and record keeping. The OSP Route Design Technician must work within a team environment, under the most stressful circumstances, and respond well to direction and correction from fellow co-workers and supervisors. In addition, the OSP Route Design Technician must maintain a positive attitude toward the OSP team producing a smoother functioning work environment.

- Perform OSP field engineering
- Meet with other company’s and client’s representatives
- Work with various entities to assist in relocation or in the field design changes
- Communicate and advise other entities for coordination of fiber placement or moves
- Offer solutions for complex in the field engineering and work approval through all appropriate internal and external parties
- Assist with some stages of construction if on-site field engineering is needed
- Generate CAD drawings to document the required site surveys
- Must be able to read and understand surveys and construction drawings
- Supervise outside contractors on a special projects as needed
- Create and maintain a variety of written materials, documents, and reports to track the progress across multiple projects simultaneously
- Perform OSP office engineering
- Convert field information to CAD and PDF drawings
- Integrate drawings into CAD and PDF records
- Create MOPs for Construction activities
- Plan all facets of each OSP project
- Approve plan through supervisors and corporate officers
- Product MOP and confirm with Splicing & Project Manager personnel
- Revise MOP and distribute to proper channels within client’s organization
- Include building entry MOPs where applicable
- Assist with any in the field MOP changes
- Create and distribute material list if needed
- Track and report progress of each project through the entire OSP process
- Update “red-lines” in CAD and PDF drawings
- Provide Accounting with billing information if needed
- Work with applicable external entities to assist in MOP execution
- Perform additional duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Must have and maintain a MS driver’s license. At least 5 years work experience related to the OSP communications and construction industry. Must have working knowledge of all types of Outside Plant construction. Must possess a high degree of interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use a computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing computer screen. Occasional travel will be required.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
