Sylmar Health & Rehabilitation Center is a locked psychiatric facility in the San Fernando Valley. We are looking for a full-time Activity Aid to join our team!
Summary of Position: The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs, in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by a Supervisor.
Work Hours: 12pm-8pm; 5 days a week; Fri-Sat OFF or Sun-Mon OFF available. Full time.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists with planning, developing recreational activities and conducts groups in which residents carry out these activities, organizing and fulfilling a program of recreational activities for residents.
- Encourage residents to participate in hobbies and crafts
- Assist the Activities Director in the development and implementation of special events as well as outing and theme socials.
- Supervises residents engaged in scheduled activities to promote the physical, social, and mental well-being of residents by applying experience in activities and knowledge of diagnoses and conditions of residents.
- Attendance at all weekly mandatory staff and in-service meetings.
- Monitoring patient safety.
Qualifications / Essential Skills:
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Dependable and Good work ethics.
- Ability to interact with residents in the milieu and model appropriate social and professional behavior.
- Experience in mental health and substance abuse populations preferred but not required.
Education
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
