American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a weekend ICU position at a Level 3 Trauma and Stroke Center of Excellence, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

40-bed ICU unit at a 457-bed Level 3 Trauma, Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center

Patient population includes ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy patients, opti-flow, BiPAP, overdose, CRRT, GI bleeds, and trauma cases

Patient ratio of 1:1–3

Specialized procedures and equipment include Arctic Sun, Hemosphere, Belmont rapid transfuser, and LifeFlow
-
EMR: Epic; IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
-
12-hour day shifts (0700–1900), 36 hours per week

This is a weekend-only position — traveler will work every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Floating required within the region and scope of practice, which may include Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH — peds only); candidates must be agreeable to floating or should not apply

No on-call or call-back requirements

Active NC or compact RN license required

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Proficiency in critical care drips including insulin, vasopressors, and sedation

Experience managing invasive lines (arterial lines, CVP), cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, ventilator management, blood product administration, and wound care
-
Epic EMR experience

Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Work history must include hospital name, location, number of beds, trauma level, teaching hospital status, and EMR/charting system used
-
Unit support includes CNAs, a charge nurse 24/7, Respiratory Therapy 24/7, Hospitalist 24/7, Intensivist 24/7, and an IV/VAT team; phlebotomy is primarily the RN's responsibility

Hardwired monitors and travel telemetry boxes are available on the unit
-
Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays

Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; time off that affects contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract

Navy scrubs required

Permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
