Job Overview
The Outreach and Communications Manager position is a marketing communication professional and specialist role. This role will implement the organization’s outreach and education strategy by supporting the development and execution of communications and outreach activities that promote MED-Project’s programs and brand. MED-Project implements product stewardship plans for unwanted medicine and sharps, including education and outreach programming.The role will create and assist in developing outreach materials, communications materials, and compliance reports along with supporting relationships with internal teams, external regulators, and other stakeholders. The role will ensure the adherence of the outreach activities align with all applicable business requirements that includes compliance with legislation, regulation, and approved plans. The Outreach and Communications Manager will apply communications skills, attention to detail, and analytical capabilities to help deliver clear, accurate, and timely information.
The Outreach and Communications Manager will collaborate closely with team members of the Outreach and Education Department to deliver assignments. The Outreach and Communications Manager will report to the Director, Outreach and Education.
Key Responsibilities
· Draft and edit internal and external communications materials such as press releases, newsletter articles, presentations, and fact sheets.
· Support brand messaging by helping maintain consistency across organizational communications.
· Collect and organize information for reporting, including data on outreach activities, media coverage, and stakeholder engagement.
· Prepare summaries and reports to support compliance requirements and inform management decisions.
· Assist with preparing talking points, responses, or background materials for leadership.
· Collaborate on communications projects.
· Contribute to maintaining project records, timelines, and documentation.
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
· A minimum of 5+ years of experience in communications, public outreach, or related fields.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft materials for diverse audiences.
· Experience supporting communications projects or initiatives.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple concurrent projects.
· Ability to analyze and summarize information for reporting purposes.
· Committed to personal and professional development with a desire for continuous learning.
· Comfort working in a virtual environment with occasional travel.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· English language skills - fluent written and verbal communication.
Additional Skills/Preferences
· Familiarity with regulated industries or compliance reporting.
· Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
· Experience with Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
· Experience using task and project management tools to keep initiatives on track and organized.
Data Security
As part of the business operations, MED-Project’s employees need to obtain and process data. The classification of this data helps determine what baseline security controls are appropriate for safeguarding the data. Information is classified according to the risks associated with the data being stored or processed.
All employees have a responsibility to ensure compliance with MED-Project’s Policies and Procedures, to handle all data consistently with the principles set out therein and to ensure that measures are taken to protect sensitive data. Managers are responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance.
Travel
Depending upon location, this position might require up to 10% domestic travel per year.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
