Extension, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician on behalf of our client, a leading provider of packaging equipment solutions in the West Chicago area. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically inclined professional who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, and building strong customer relationships.
In this customer-facing role, you will install, maintain, and repair a variety of packaging equipment at customer sites. The position is primarily mechanical (approximately 55%), with electrical (30%) and hydraulic (10–15%) responsibilities. You'll have the opportunity to work with a wide range of equipment while representing a respected organization in the field.
Responsibilities
- Perform field service repairs on packaging equipment, including:
- Stretch wrappers
- Case sealers
- Strapping machines
- Shrink systems
- Balers
- Palletizers
- Bagging machines
- And other packaging equipment
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Install new equipment and ensure proper operation.
- Perform preventative maintenance to maximize equipment performance.
- Complete accurate service documentation, including work performed, labor hours, travel, and parts used or required.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating repairs, recommendations, and equipment status.
- Train customers on the operation and maintenance of newly installed equipment.
- Coordinate with the Service Coordinator to schedule service calls and obtain necessary parts.
- Collaborate with the sales team during equipment installations and customer support initiatives.
- Assist with the training and onboarding of new Field Service Technicians as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, including both high- and low-voltage components.
- Experience with hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites.
Pay: $30-$35 an hour, depending on experience.
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
