Job Posting: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor & Delivery (L&D) for a 13-week contract. This role requires a well-rounded clinician comfortable managing a full continuum of care within a low-volume, highly supportive unit setting.
Position Overview

- Shift Details: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for laboring patients, triages, mother-baby, newborn nursery, couplet care, and gynecology surgery patients.
- Manage an average unit volume of 15–17 births per month.
- Perform comprehensive initial assessments, triage evaluations, and labor monitoring within the full scope of RN practice.
- Collaborate closely with team members, including paired LPNs (the RN validates LPN assessments and handles tasks requiring RN scope of practice).
- Function as the lead clinician during labor and delivery while relying on team support for EFM evaluations, patient positioning, and documentation support.
- Float to the Med/Surg floor if unit volume is low (tasks may be tailored to vital signs, medication administration, and support if full assignment is outside your comfort zone).
Candidate Qualifications & Requirements
- Certifications: Active BLS, NRP, and Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM) certifications required.
- Experience: Proficient in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum/Couplet Care, Triage, and Newborn Nursery care.
- Skills: Strong adaptability, team-first communication skills, and comfort working in a small-unit dynamic.
Unit & Work Environment Notes
- Support & Structure: Excellent unit resources are available, including an on-duty Transfer Coordinator (House Supervisor) for additional hands-on assistance when needed.
- Cancellation Policy: Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 1 shift every other week.
Pay: From $64.00 per hour
