Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive healthcare services within a correctional facility located in Beaumont. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in correctional nursing, with expertise in managing diverse medical conditions, ensuring patient safety, and adhering to strict healthcare protocols. Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, following aseptic techniques and safety guidelines.
- Manage acute and chronic conditions such as pain management, infectious disease care, and trauma medicine within the correctional setting.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations, specimen collection, and processing while maintaining infection control standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans, discharge planning, and case management strategies.
- Provide triage services for inmates presenting with urgent or emergent health issues, including emergency response procedures.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate medical documentation in accordance with NCQA standards.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth for efficient medical records management and reporting.
Requirements
- Valid RN licensure with current state certification; additional certifications such as BLS (Basic Life Support) are required.
- Prior correctional nursing experience is highly preferred; experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs is advantageous.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth; familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is beneficial.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex medical conditions including ICU experience, trauma care, or long-term care settings.
- Strong knowledge of infection control practices, sterile processing, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments requiring critical care skills such as airway management and ventilator support.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with a professional attitude towards patient care and team collaboration.
