We have an immediate need for manual machinists in a specialized smaller manufacturing environment.
The machinists in our industry have the esteem title of "Carbide Preform Specialist".
This candidate must have a mature work ethic; run jobs with very little supervision; and does not get confused with basic measurement math calculations.
We will consider new and veteran manual machinists as long as they are willing and able.
We manufacture tungsten carbide blanks that are used in a myriad of industrial applications such as cutting tools, machine wear parts, metal forming dies, etc. that are used in all of the familiar names in the automotive, lumber, machinery, agriculture, aerospace, defense, energy etc.
It is considered a strategic and essential industry based on the U.S. Department of War and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
You will learn to make what few people in our area know even exists.
This position will train on basic manual machining operations and general manufacturing support and then will evolve into training on a wide variety machines and departments in our process. 3-5 years experience in a machine shop environment is highly preferred.
You are encouraged to consider this position if you have ever used a manual machine in a machine shop setting. (The tolerances we work with are loose.)
Job Type: Full-time, First Shift
Wage: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour (starting and then will be re-evaluated after 30 days)
Hours: 6:30AM-2:30PM PM Mon-Fri, 30 min. paid lunch, 8-10 holidays
Desirable Candidates should:
- be able to make basic math calculations when measuring and using a calculator.
- Be able work independently and in an organized manner and must possess a certain degree of hand dexterity to handle delicate parts.
- Be physically capable to lift (alone or with help) approx. 40-50 lbs 2-3 times per week.
- Be prepared to stand at a workstation for 6-8 hrs a day.
- Be someone that is dependable and does not require constant supervision to get the job done in a timely manner.
- Be able to listen & learn to read basic shop prints & read dial calipers
- Familiarity with basic machine shop machines is a plus (operation, repair, safety, or maintenance)
- Be able work in different areas of the plant that may not have A/C at times.
- Be able to handle a work environment that is often dusty with the black carbide powder. **THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT- DO NOT APPLY IF THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR YOU**
- Be able to cross-train for a variety of duties throughout the process.
- Be able to work closely with a small team (This is not an assembly-line environment.)
