(Entry-level starting wage scales from $12.00 based on age and basic experience. For advanced candidates bringing high-level culinary knowledge, maturity, and proven shift-lead skills, starting pay can break past the standard $17.00 cap with an immediate transition into a Lead role.)
Schedule & Availability Requirements:
- No Evening Shifts: Regular main shifts get off by 3 PM—enjoy having your evenings completely free, even on weekends!
- Primary Coverage Needed: Thursday through Sunday (with potential opportunities for more shifts).
- Weekend Policy: Friday and Saturday availability is required, and Sunday availability is a core requirement of this position. While we do our best to rotate schedules so our staff can get an occasional Sunday off here and there, you must have open, reliable availability for Sunday morning/daytime shifts to be considered.
Job Summary
Join our vibrant team at The Shoppe Pastry & Coffeehouse! We are looking for energetic, flexible, and enthusiastic Team Members who love a dynamic workday. Our shop is fast-paced and busy, but our culture is incredibly supportive, fun, and positive.
In this role, you will be cross-trained across the entire business—moving seamlessly between crafting specialty espresso drinks, handling food prep, and assembling gourmet sandwiches. While we are happy to train friendly, entry-level staff from scratch, we are also looking for a mature, driven, and highly responsible individual who can serve as a "Lead" anchor for our younger team. If you bring advanced kitchen capabilities, strong personal drive, and prior shift-supervisor experience, we are fully prepared to offer a starting wage above our standard cap and step you right into a leadership role on the floor.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Front-of-House Mastery: Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately on our POS system, handle transactions with precision, and expertly craft specialty coffee and tea beverages.
- Cross-Trained Kitchen Support: Act as a prep cook or assistant to our main cooks. Assemble and build signature sandwiches, salads, and breakfast items on the kitchen line.
- Main Cook Coverage (Advanced Candidates): Learn our full kitchen menu execution to occasionally step up and run the main cooking line during peak rushes or shift coverage.
- Bakery & Display Assistance: Assist the kitchen team by rolling out cookies, helping with light baking tasks, labeling fresh pastries, and keeping the front pastry case beautifully filled.
- Expediting & Restocking: Package food orders carefully, quality-check tickets, deliver items directly to guests, and keep the grab-and-go snack displays and retail merchandising refrigerators fully stocked.
- Team Cleanliness: Maintain a clean workspace across both prep areas, the kitchen, and seating zones, adhering to food safety protocols and washing dishes as a team to keep things moving.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, positive, and energetic attitude.
- High Dependability: A mature, driven, and highly responsible mindset is critical for this role.
- Comfortable switching gears quickly from customer interactions to back-of-house kitchen line cooking.
- Ability to multi-task, stay flexible, and thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience as a barista, line cook, food prep worker, or dishwasher is a huge plus, but an outstanding, dependable work ethic is our top priority!
Benefits
