Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Registered or Certified Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA) to join our clinical team in a full-time position. This is a hands-on clinical role in a small, independent Pediatric and Internal Medicine Primary Care Office.

Duties
- Room patients and prepare them for provider visits
- Obtain and accurately document vital signs, patient history, medications, allergies, and chief concerns
- Perform medication reconciliation
- Assist providers with physical exams, procedures, and in-office treatments
- Perform venipuncture and blood draws
- Collect, label, and process laboratory specimens
- Administer vaccines and medications according to provider orders and office protocols
- Perform in-office testing such as rapid strep, influenza, COVID-19, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, and other point-of-care testing as applicable
- Perform EKGs and other clinical testing as needed
- Provide patient and family education as directed by the provider
- Manage prescription refill requests and communicate with pharmacies when needed
- Process referrals and assist with scheduling and coordination of specialty care
- Complete and follow up on prior authorizations
- Communicate with patients regarding provider instructions, test results, and follow-up needs
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding labs, referrals, and patient care needs
- Assist with vaccine inventory, storage, and documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record
- Follow OSHA, infection control, HIPAA, and other applicable clinical and safety standards
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked clinical areas
- Recognize changes in a patient's condition and promptly communicate concerns to the provider
- Work closely with providers and other staff to keep patient flow running efficiently
- Assist with additional clinical and office responsibilities as needed
Skills
- Current CMA or RMA certification required
- Previous medical assisting experience in a primary care, family practice, or internal medicine, and pediatric setting
- Strong clinical skills and confidence working directly with patients
- Experience performing venipuncture
- Experience administering immunizations
- Comfortable performing point-of-care testing and other routine clinical procedures
- Knowledge of referrals, prior authorizations, medication refills, and care coordination
- Strong understanding of HIPAA, infection control, and patient confidentiality
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Professional, dependable, and organized
- Able to prioritize and multitask in a busy clinical environment
- Comfortable working independently while also being a strong team player
- Good attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
- Able to communicate effectively with children, adults, parents, and caregivers
- Willing to help wherever needed and contribute to a positive team environment
- Ability to remain calm and professional when the office is busy or unexpected situations arise
- Experience in both pediatric and adult patient care is required

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 34.0 per week
