A leading construction corporation located near Salinas is seeking a Senior Accountant on a direct hire basis. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing project accounting, job cost reporting, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial reporting for multiple construction projects. The ideal candidate has strong construction accounting experience, understands percentage-of-completion accounting, and is comfortable working closely with project managers and operations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities

Manage the full accounting cycle for multiple construction projects.

Maintain and reconcile job cost ledgers and ensure project costs are recorded accurately.

Monitor project budgets, committed costs, change orders, and cost-to-complete estimates.

Perform monthly bank, general ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaid schedules, and account analyses.

Review subcontractor billings, lien waivers, and payment applications.

Process owner billings and ensure timely collection of accounts receivable.

Support accounts payable by reviewing vendor invoices and ensuring proper job cost coding.

Collaborate with project managers to analyze project profitability, budget variances, and forecasting.

Prepare financial reports for management, lenders, and external stakeholders.

Assist with annual audits and provide supporting documentation.

Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiencies.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

2+ years of accounting experience performing project accounting.
