ECHO is currently looking for a Maintenance Technician Team Member based out of our Myrtle Beach office. The primary coverage area will be in Horry County, and will occasionally include coverage in other counties within ECHO's service area.
Eastern Carolina Housing Organization (ECHO) is a non-profit homeless services organization serving the 13 northeastern counties of South Carolina (SC) and 3 counties in North Carolina (NC). The main corporate office is located in Myrtle Beach, SC with satellite offices in Sumter and Florence, SC.
The role of the Maintenace Technician is to help in the achievement of the objectives of the supportive housing programs and the organizations offices. These responsibilities include completion of daily work orders, unit inspections, preventive maintenance, etc. The Maintenance Technician will operate under the Housing First approach and is committed to affirmatively furthering fair housing.
Responsibilities:
- Complete minor work orders such as replacing filters, light bulbs, vinyl repair, painting, repairs to pipelines, toilets, sinks, kitchen, and laundry equipment, etc. Perform preventative maintenance duties as assigned.
- Ensure that the assigned equipment is prepared and operational for the following day’s work.
- Schedule and maintain regular interaction with participants to monitor progress with the physical requirements of housing and to help stabilize participants
- Monitor efficiency of equipment and electrical systems such as air conditioning controls and lighting systems and make minor repairs and/or replacements to ensure proper operation and maximum effectiveness
- Refurbish, paint or clean furniture and fixtures within client units such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows, and counters.
- Recommend appropriate corrective action and communicate findings to the identified parties
- Follow procedures that ensure the security of inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, etc. Replenish supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner, and minimize waste.
- Report all unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
- Maintain compliance with funding or regulatory entities
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical skills, preventive maintenance procedures, and a reasonable understanding of building equipment and hand tools.
- 1+ year(s) of general building maintenance and repair experience.
- Completion of high school diploma or related vocational training preferred.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with Transitional Housing programs
- Comfortable using a computer (Internet browsing, communicating via email, data entry, Microsoft Office)
- Experience conducting business with property management companies/ landlords
- United States Military Veteran
