Metallurgist
Full-Time | Work Location: Fallon, NV
Job Summary
Walker Lane Mining Company LLC is seeking a Metallurgist to support processing operations, metallurgical analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives at our mining operation.
This role is responsible for monitoring plant performance, analyzing metallurgical data, optimizing recovery processes, and supporting safe and efficient gold production.
The Metallurgist will work closely with operations, laboratory personnel, maintenance, engineering, and management teams to improve plant efficiency and support operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
· Monitor and analyze metallurgical performance of plant operations
· Support optimization of gold recovery, reagent usage, and process efficiency
· Review and interpret metallurgical test results and operational data
· Perform metallurgical calculations including recoveries, balances, and process trends
· Assist with troubleshooting processing issues and recommend corrective actions
· Coordinate and support metallurgical test work including bottle rolls, column tests, and carbon activity testing
· Generate and maintain metallurgical reports, production summaries, and operational data tracking
· Collaborate with laboratory, operations, maintenance, and engineering teams
· Ensure compliance with all MSHA safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies
· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to maximize recovery and reduce operational costs
· Support training and technical guidance for operations personnel as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related field required
· Previous metallurgical or mineral processing experience preferred
· Strong understanding of heap leach, Merrill-Crowe, carbon processing, and gold recovery systems preferred
· Ability to analyze operational data and identify process improvements
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
· Experience with metallurgical reporting and laboratory coordination preferred
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills
· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced mining environment
· Valid Driver’s License required
Work Conditions
· Combination of office, laboratory, plant, and field-based work
· Exposure to hazardous chemicals, dust, noise, fumes, heat, cold, and moving equipment
· Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
· PPE required including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, respirator, and steel-toe boots
· Ability to work overtime, weekends, or on-call schedules as needed
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds as needed
